Tbilisi

Tbilisi is the capital and the largest city of Georgia, located on the banks of the Kura River with a population of about 1.5 million people. The city was founded in the V century by the king VakhtangGorgasali. The many-sided history of the city can be studied by its architecture: from the spacious avenues of Rustaveli and Agmashenebeli, and ending with the narrow streets of the Narikala district preserved from the early Middle Ages. Tbilisi is also famous for sulfuric baths in the Abanotubani area

Monuments of cultural heritage of UNESCO

Mtskheta is located at the place where the Kura River and Aragvi merges. It is one of the oldest settlements of Transcaucasia. The historical and architectural interest is of cathedral Svetistskhoveli (11th century) and Jvari Monastery (Vv). These religious objects are under protection of UNESCO and are announced by a part of world inheritance in 1994.

The architectural Gelati complex (UNESCO) charming with beauty, which has been founded in 1106 by the King David IV Builder (1089 – 1125). The ancient frescoes and relics of the Saint King David have remained here. This majestic cathedral towers over the city of Kutaisi.

Kakheti

The homeland of wine and winemaking-Kakheti. To feel all the luxury of the taste and aroma of Georgian wines is possible in this region.

Gremi is an architectural monument of the 16th century. In the past, it was the capital of Kakheti, which was the royal residence and the busy trading city of the Great Silk Road.

Nekresi is a monastery complex in the Kvareli region, with a view of the Alazani valley. It consists of several cultural buildings belonging to different epochs.

Bodbe convent -is the place where St. Nina, the educator of Georgia, is buried. In the church of St. George, which is located on the territory of the monastery, the miraculous icon of the Iberian Mother of God rests.

Kakheti is also famous for the city Signagi — the city of music, art and love with a fascinating view of the Alazani valley.

Degustation spots

What in Georgia can be better than wine tasting? – Only wine tasting in a picturesque, national style. Now the plant owns 300 of 400 hectares of micro zones “Kindzmarauli”, a wine storage, wine shop, tasting rooms, restaurant and even its own hotel in the center of Kvareli.

Karst caves

The cave of Prometheus was discovered on July 15, 1983. In the cave are all kinds of underground karst origin: stalactites, stalagmites, gurus, petrified waterfalls, cave pearls, underground river, underground lakes and others. The length of the entire cave is about 1400 meters; the air temperature is 18 degrees.

Sataplia Cave – a natural exhibit nearby Tskaltubo was found in 1925 by the scientist Petra Chabukiani. The Sataplia Cave is a corridor of karst stalactites and stalagmite. For visitors one of 5 halls with a length of 500 meters and a height of 275-400 meters is available. There are traces of the oldest reptiles here.

Borjomi

The world-famous balneological resort Borjomi is located in southwestern Georgia, in the gorge of the Kura River at an altitude of 800-850 meters above sea level. The climate of Borjomi is mild moderately damp. The plant cover of Borjomi gorge is diverse, but mostly coniferous trees prevail.The Borjomi gorge – the unique resort known for its sources of medical mineral waters, which structure has similarity to such sources as Vichy of Grande-Grilleand Obersalzbrunnen (Silesian spring).The climate of Borjomi together with mineral water is favorable not only for patients with diseases of digestive tract, liver and metabolism, but also for people with frustration of nervous system and had a stress. No wonder  Borjomi is called “the pearl of the Caucasus”.

Batumi

Batumi differs in a variety of an architectural delicacy: buildings are decorated with chimeras, mermaids, atlases and other mythical creatures.Also you will get acquainted with a modern city architecture which is also interesting. The city includes such sights as:seaside boulevard, the well-known fountain with chacha, the Alphabetic tower, Ali and Nino’s moving statue, Medea’s statue, the fountain with the Neptune’s statue,church of St. Nikolay and St. Barbarians, Pyazza Square (the area in the Venetian style), the Batumi seaport, the park of  May 6 and the lake Nurigel, a dolphinarium, the building of the Ministry of Justice, the Adzharian House, singing and dancing fountains, the lake Ardagan.Botanical Garden “Green Cape”, one of the largest botanical gardens, located on the area of 113 hectares.

Kazbegi

Kazbegi is a highland part of Georgia located very close from the Russian border. There is Greater Caucasus Range, and through it – the well-known Georgian Military Road.It is possible to get to Kazbegi as from Russia, and as from Tbilisi. From the Georgian capital,Kazbegi separates the Caucasian ridge. The magic town — Stepantsminda, is located at the foot of Mount Kazbek (the most known and picturesque mountain of Georgia). From above over the town as the fantastic lock, the Gergetsky church of the Trinity which is constructed at the height of 2150 meters above sea level.The fascinating road through the Cross pass to Stepantsminda will leave nobody indifferent. Svaneti - UNESCO

The Upper Svaneti — the mountain valley in headwaters of the Inguri River. From the North and the East the Upper Svaneti is bordered by Greater Caucasus Range with tops Shkhara, Ushba, Tetnuldi and others. The Upper Svaneti is known for the architectural treasures and picturesque landscapes.The inhabited towers built mainly in the IX—XII centuries are allocated. Also ancient stone orthodox churches have remained. The Upper Svaneti has been included in the list of objects of the World heritage of UNESCO.

Martvili's canyons

One of a unique natural sight of Georgia — Martvili’s canyon. For many millions of years water has done in rocks from limestone the magnificent gorge, depth the reaching 40 meters at the bottom of which the river flows.In the top part of a canyon it is possible to make boat walk and to reach its beginning — the 7th meter most powerful waterfall. Because of extremely humid climate from rocks huge lianas hang down, and walls are covered with centuries-old mosses.From the walls, water flows escape, forming small streamlets and quite powerful waterfalls.

Rafting

In Georgia rest is bright, prompt, risky, full of adrenaline and positive emotions. And of course, we are talking about rafting -descent on the mountain rivers on inflatable boats which are called rafts. Feature of rafting in Georgia that it is possible to be engaged in this active type of rest practically in any region of the country!
Pasanauri is famous as the resort rich with mineral waters, clean air, numerous tourist routes, and for quite some time now and rafting.

Ski resort

Gudauri ski resort (2379 m above sea level). Average thickness of snow cover reaches 1.5 m in the winter. Routes are equipped with elevators (the lower station at the height of 1990 meters, and top at the height of 3307 meters).Mountain-skiing tours in Gudauri are demanded among amateurs and professional skiers.In Gudaurithere is a “blue” route for amateurs and the beginning skiers which length is 3 kilometers. Also there are several difficult routes — “black” and “red” (of 2 and 3,5 kilometers), intended for skilled mountain skiers.The most serious route demands special skills of descent on frozen slopes and therefore will be suitable only for thrill-seekers, other route is a little easier. Fans of freeride choose untouched fields with dense snow cover in places of smaller danger of avalanches descent.

Cave cities

The most ancient city-fortress Uplistsikhe. The city was founded  at the end of II — at the beginning of the I millennium BC. Long time ago there were huge majestic halls, temples, dwellings connected by winding corridors of streets. Some premises, wine storages, fragments of temples and fortifications are still intact.Historically in Georgia – the country of high mountains and stone rocks – there was a special type of architectural art – carving in rocky monoliths of churches, fortresses and even the whole cities.

Akhaltsikhe Fortress

The Akhaltsikhe fortress, stretched on 7 hectares, is divided into two parts: The Upper (historical) and the Lower (modern). In the Upper fortress are located: the historical museum of the Samtskhe-Dzhavakheti region which is in the Dzhakeli castle, the mosque Haji Ahmed Pasha (Akhmediye), madrasah, a tomb of the pasha, Orthodox church of the 9th century, a citadel and an amphitheater.In the territory of the lower part fortress there are the tourists service facilities: hotel, restaurant, two cafes bars, wine cellar, brand shops and also house of weddings.
